Diversity in medicine: Where to start among medical specialties?

Primary care and obstetrics/gynecology have the most diversity in medicine, while other specialties have less representation by physicians of color. Emergency medicine physician Sampson Davis, MD, says he doesn’t always have contacts when patients are looking for physicians who match their racial, cultural and social backgrounds. This holds true for physical and mental health.
