The physician recruiting firm AMN Healthcare, formerly known as Merritt Hawkins, has been studying trends in physician compensation for 30 years. Its recently published 2023 Review of Physician and Advanced Practitioner Recruiting Incentive report analysis of compensation data for more than 2,600 physician and advanced practitioner job searches, including 20 physician specialties, from April 2022 through March 2023. Here are nine specialties where starting salaries increased—and one where they dropped.
