Adding to primary care research

Arlene S. Bierman, MD, MS, of the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality discusses two kinds of research in health care.

Arlene S. Bierman, MD, MS, is director of the Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement in the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She also is a general internist, geriatrician and researcher.

In this video segment, Bierman explains health care research deals with at least two topics: conditions and diseases of the body, and the science of care, which include the systems to deliver health services to people. AHRQ conducts health services research to find out what leads to the best primary care, and the best return on investment.
