A practice can move to patient-centered care in five ways, according to the National eHealth Collaborative's recently released Patient Engagement Framework.
The framework was created to help physicians create a system of care that empathizes with the patient experience. Specifically, the framework advocates an approach to care built on:
- informing patients,
- engaging patients,
- empowering patients,
- partnering with patients, and
- supporting patients’ community.
