Am I required to appear in federal court on an attorney's subpoena when the attorney gives me only two working days' notice?
Q: Am I required to appear in federal court on an attorney's subpoena when the attorney gives me only two working days' notice?
A: Not necessarily. Under law, the party who issues a subpoena must allow you reasonable time to comply. If two days' notice is an undue burden for you and the attorney won't work with you to schedule a more convenient time, contact the trial judge (or his clerk) and ask him to intervene on your behalf.
