COVID-19 exposed existing problems.
COVID-19 shined a harsh light on the inequities and burnout within the U.S. health care system. While that disease may be less of a concern, it won’t change strategies in addressing drivers of health, said Physicians Foundation President Gary Price, MD, MBA. The Physicians Foundation has studied how these affect patient health, and believes a proposal by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for a Universal Foundation to measure drivers of health could lead to new ways for doctors to help patients deal with social and economic conditions that affect well-being.
