Free e-prescriber pitched to more physicians

NaviMedix has agreed to offer Allscripts' free eRx NOW e-prescribing system to the 190,000 physicians who use its NaviNet system for communicating online with health plans. NaviMedix will also become a sponsor of the National ePrescribing Patient Safety Coalition (NEPSI), under whose aegis eRX NOW was launched in January. Other NEPSI sponsors include Allscripts, Dell, Cisco, Fijitsu, Microsoft, Sprint, Aetna, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, WellPoint, Wolters Kluwer Health, SureScripts, and Google.

More than 20,000 physicians use the same e-prescribing system from Allscripts. But a company spokesman could not say how many doctors have taken advantage of the free e-prescriber.
