The U.S. spends more than 18% of its Gross Domestic Product on health care, the most of any industrialized country. But how much of that is spent on primary care visits, and by whom? Equally important, who is not spending on primary care visits? Researchers sought to answer those questions by analyzing national data from the 2019 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS.) Here is some of what they found.
