More cancer after COVID-19?

Detecting cancer is always better sooner instead of later. When patients stopped going to the doctor during the COVID-19 pandemic, they missed any number of cancer screenings, and new cancer diagnoses plummeted in 2020. That in turn prompted fears of a there were fears that numerous cases of cancer were not being diagnosed in a timely manner. However, a predicted rebound did not happen. Here’s the study on the cancer diagnoses and an explainer from the National Institutes of Health.

Presenteeism (or, take your illness to work day)

Physicians are used to people who feel ill, showing up at their workplace – for care. Lots of people who feel ill also show up at their own workplaces, according to a new study. It’s called presenteeism, or working in a state of ill health, and it’s likely creating tension among employees while costing companies billions of dollars a year.
