Remote deposit capture

Remote deposit captures are explained.

Q: Our office manager wants to investigate remote deposit capture (RDC) services. What is she taking about?

A: RDC is a service that allows bank customers to scan or capture images of check deposits and present them electronically to the bank without having to physically deliver the paper check to the bank. A federal law, known as Check 21, has made it easier for banks to electronically transfer check images rather than transferring paper checks.

Practices should contact their local banks for more information regarding RDC services because requirements and availability may vary.
