Teladoc Health, a telehealth and virtual health care company headquartered in Purchase, New York, has announced a new partnership with Amazon, meant to expand patient access to Teladoc’s cardiometabolic programs. Amazon customers who are eligible for Teladoc Health’s virtual diabetes, hypertension, pre-diabetes and weight management programs will now have the ability to discover and enroll in these benefit programs through Amazon’s Health Benefit Connector, previously known as Health Condition Programs. Currently, Teladoc Health has over one million active enrollees across its chronic condition programs.

“This partnership helps deliver on our strategy to bring greater value to our customers in our individual solutions and across our integrated offerings,” Chuck Divita, CEO, Teladoc Health, said in a news release. “By enabling customers to discover and enroll in our programs on Amazon, this effort will improve access to needed care and help people manage their health in an easier and more convenient way.”

The release references a 2022 commentary on chronic disease prevention from the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors which states that nearly 60% of American adults are living with at least one chronic disease. Although these individuals can likely benefit from digital programs, First Dollar’s 2022 health care benefits census found that 22% of U.S. adults are unaware of all the benefits available to them through their health plans.

Through their participation in Amazon’s Health Benefits Connector, Teladoc Health looks to solve this challenge by making customers aware of the benefits they are eligible for when they search for related products or devices.

“As Amazon’s program has evolved over the last year, it has established itself as a new and exciting enrollment channel for our members,” Kelly Bliss, president of U.S. Group Health, Teladoc Health, said of the partnership. “Amazon’s service gives us new ways to engage members where they are and deliver a seamless enrollment experience.”

Aaron Martin, VP of Health care, Amazon, spoke on the collaboration, saying: “The scale and expertise of our two organizations give us a unique opportunity to strengthen our impact on health care together. Building on this relationship, we’re excited to find more ways to advance our collaboration and explore new ways to simplify and improve health solutions for customers.”
