The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given its Breakthrough Device designation to a new smartphone app that addresses negative symptoms associated with adult schizophrenia. A study will evaluate the new prescription digital therapeutic for potential to offer more effective treatment than existing care for life-threatening diseases.

Healing in the water

A British survey of more 1,114 women found 63.3% of them swam specifically to relieve symptoms of menopause. They described the exercise benefits to their physical and mental health, describing it as “healing,” according to the study and accompanying press release.

Lax controls over prescription drugs

Physicians know well the regulations regarding prescription medications they prescribe to their patients. Apparently those rules weren’t followed in the White House Medical Unit during previous administrations, according to a new oversight report. CNN has the news.
