The top five cities in North America with the biggest drops in hotel, airfare and car rental rates compared to a year ago. Vancouver, B.C. is looking pretty good right now.
Some people can’t help a good deal, that’s the whole reason there are dozens of websites dedicated to finding the lowest price. Hotwire.com has released the top five cities in North America with the biggest hotel, air and car rental rate drops compared to a year ago.
Hotels saw the smallest price drops, while car rental rates dropped the largest by far. Cincinnati, Ohio, reported the biggest drop in car rental rates with prices plummeting by 44%, year-over-year.
"The onset of summer means that prices are at their peak in many destinations, but that doesn't mean that deals on hotel, air and car rentals are impossible to find in some great cities," said Clem Bason, president of the Hotwire Group, in a statement. “Vancouver in particular is a fantastic deal right now and it's beautiful in the summer.”
Vancouver, B.C., took the top spot in two lists: hotel and air. However, the city didn’t make the top five for car rental rates. In fact, no market shows up in the top five for all three categories. In addition to Vancouver showing up on two lists, so did Billings, Mont. Meanwhile, Arizona had two different markets show up: Tucson and Scottsdale.
