AAFP division announces EHR selection program

AAFP forges partnership to help members and physicians select EHR vendor

The American Academy of Family Physician's TransforMED division announced a partnership in October with medical device and technology manufacturer Welch Allyn to help members and other physicians select an electronic health record vendor.

There are three levels of services, with increasing in-person consulting and cost at each level. The basic level is a 10-step project with nearly 40 assignments and four hours of consulting to help plan and manage selection. Practices will also access a web portal that contains electronic worksheets, templates, surveys and tables to organize, analyze and distribute EHR project data between internal staff and EHR vendors.

The first level "EHR Prep Select" costs $1,795 per practice. The next level, "EHR Prep Select Plus," will add $1,250 per half-day of consulting time. "EHR Prep Premier," the third level, will vary in cost depending on the complexity of the project, according to TransforMED.
