Recommendations and resources from U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, MD, MBA.
Alcohol is the nation’s third-leading preventable cause of cancer, but not many Americans recognize it as a carcinogen like they do for radiation, asbestos or smoking.
U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, MD, MBA, hopes to change that with his new publication, “Alcohol and Cancer Risk,” an advisory to doctors, patients, lawmakers and every adult.
Drinking beer, wine and liquor brings increased risk for at least seven different types of cancer including breast cancer in women, and colorectum, esophagus, larynx, liver, mouth, and pharynx.
This slideshow presents Murthy’s six prescribed action steps in his advisory, along with free online resources available to anyone.
Links to the resources are in the text of the slide descriptions above.
