Are there alternatives to noncompetes that achieve the same goals?

Noncompetes can be complicated and are currently tied up in legal challenges to the FTC nationwide ban. Are there other legal tools that achieve the same purpose?

The FTC banned noncompete agreements nationwide, but that decision is being challenged in court. But regardless of the outcome of the case, noncompete agreements can be complex and practices must use them with caution, while also being careful to make sure new employees do not have a noncompete agreement with another organization.

Medical Economics spoke with Emma Schuering, JD, of the Polsinelli law firm, to learn more about the current status of noncompetes and what practices need to know about them.
