Meet the new leaders of AAFP – a slideshow

American Academy of Family Physicians announces new president, supporting leadership as part of annual meeting.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) announced its new 2024-2025 leadership panel as part of its annual Congress of Delegates meeting held in September 2024.

“I am pleased to welcome our new members and officers of the board of directors. Each member brings unique strengths, experiences and perspectives that will be critical in helping the AAFP best serve family physicians and their patients,” AAFP CEO and Executive Vice President R. Shawn Martin said in the organization’s announcement.

“Our board members embody the most important qualities of a family physician. They are strong leaders, fierce advocates for policies that will positively impact family medicine and unwavering partners in health for their patients and communities,” he said. “I look forward to seeing the meaningful work they do during their time on the board.”

AAFP stared in 1947 and now represents 130,000 physicians, residents and medical students across the nation. It is the largest medical society dedicated to primary care.
