Negotiating with payers, Part 5: Beware of "unilateral amendments" and other contract pitfalls

Payers will often try to put an ability to unilaterally amend a contract at any time. This is something that should be avoided at all costs.

When negotiating with payers, practices will often see a unilateral amendment clause in the contract that allows the payer to change the contract at any time. This can jeopardize the financial viability of the practice and should be removed from the contract.
