The technology enables physicians to instantly video call their patients from a smartphone.
Medical network Doximity has launched a new tool to keep physicians in contact with their patients.
Doximity Dialer Video is the company’s first telemedicine offering and enables doctors to video call their patients over an encrypted connection which complies with HIPAA privacy regulation on their own iOS or Android smartphone without any additional setup for doctors or patients, according to a news release.
“Dialer Video is simple, fast and compatible with any smartphone,” Joel Davis, senior vice president and head of product at Doximity says in the release. “Physicians can now easily select a video call in the Doximity app with one click. Patients are then sent a text message inviting them to talk. As soon as they accept, they are transported to a video chat with their doctor. Doctors on the front lines asked us for a secure and reliable telemedicine tool, and we moved quickly to fulfill that need.”
Additional features include:
· Custom caller ID
· Full HIPAA compliance
· Epic Haiku integration
“I have been a Doximity member for years, and I’ve successfully used their tools to connect and communicate with my patients privately, and in compliance with HIPAA regulations," Munir Janmohamed, MD, FACC, FHFSA, Medical Director of Advanced Heart Failure at Dignity Health Sacramento, says in the release. "Now with Dialer Video, I can easily do telemedicine visits right from my smartphone. It’s reliable, secure and a very simple solution for my patients. It’s incredibly helpful to be able to see them through a video call. This interaction is reassuring for patients and allows for a better assessment of how they are doing clinically.”
The launch comes at a time where more and more physicians are forced to turn to telemedicine to treat their patients as the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has put a pause on most primary care office visits.
Due to the pandemic, Diale Video is available for free through January 2021 with a paid enterprise version, Doximity Dialer Pro, also available for hospital-wide deployments. Other features of the Doximity app have also been extended to members of the Doximity physician members’ teams including Dialer, a secure voice calling feature, the release says.
