AOA President Teresa A. Hubka, DO, discusses the 2025 Match for medical students.
Emergency medicine remains a critical specialty, often serving as the first point of care before patients are referred to primary care physicians or specialists, said Teresa A. Hubka, DO, president of the American Osteopathic Association. But emergency medicine also suffered during the COVIC-19 pandemic. Osteopathic students have increasingly filled emergency medicine positions, with a 35.9% increase in Match 2025, adding 31 more spots since last year and 288 since 2021, helping to address workforce shortages in the field.
