How many novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were announced today?

The COVID Tracking Project is a volunteer effort to compile federal and state data in regards to new COVID-19 cases, including number of positive and negative tests. Data on vaccination comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Here’s the latest data, updated on January 20:

Positive tests: 23,923,938

Negative tests: 217,977,785

Number of hospitalized patients: 123,820

Patient deaths: 392,428

Total vaccine doses distributed: 31,161,075

Patients who've received the first dose: 13,595,803

Patients who’ve received the second dose: 2,023,124
