Medicare’s 2013 meaningful use deadline set for midnight

You have until midnight tonight to register and attest to Medicare’s 2013 meaningful use EHR Incentive Program, according to an alert from the Department of Health and Human Services.

In fact, all eligible professionals will need to successfully attest by 11:59 p.m. EST on March 31, 2014 to receive an incentive payment for 2013 participation, the government reports.

Earlier this year, CMS extended the deadline for eligible professionals to attest to the Medicare EHR Incentive Program to allow more time for providers to submit their meaningful use data and receive an incentive payment for the 2013 program year, HHS says.

Eligible professionals participating in the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program need to check their state deadlines for attestation information.

For those who do not make the midnight deadline, payment adjustments for eligible professionals will be applied beginning on January 1, 2015. Physicians and other eligible healthcare professionals who participate in the incentive program must attest to meaningful use every year to receive an incentive and avoid a payment adjustment.
Payment adjustments do not apply for those participating only in the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program.
