Physicians rank family over pay

Family issues are the leading reasons physicians resign as well as accept positions, a healthcare recruiting firm survey reveals.

Family issues are the top reasons physicians resign as well as accept positions, according to a survey by a healthcare recruiting firm.

MillicanSolutions, which specializes in pediatric medicine, reports that family considerations were cited as a higher priority than compensation packages and career advancement opportunities, according to a 40-question survey given to members of the American Association of Administrators in Academic Pediatrics.

Other findings include that a quality work environment is one of the greatest challenge in retaining physicians and recruiting desired candidates, more so than pay.
