Planned Parenthood suing Texas over Medicaid exclusion

Planned Parenthood is suing to stop Texas from enforcing a new rule that excludes it from a Medicaid program.

Planned Parenthood is suing to stop Texas from enforcing a new rule that excludes it from a Medicaid program providing health services to low-income women. Last year, Texas notified the federal government that it would begin enforcing a state law forbidding any money in the Texas Women's Health Program from going to abortion providers or their affiliates. The Obama administration says it will not renew funding for the program because of the ban, prompting the state to sue the federal government. Texas officials say they will try to find state funding with which to continue the program.
