Primary Care Scorecard: A review with the president of the Milbank Memorial Fund

‘The Cost of Neglect’ is growing, according to the third analysis of the state of primary care.

As the administration of President Donald J. Trump begins its Make American Healthy Again campaign, primary care remains challenged, according to expert researchers.

The Milbank Memorial Fund and The Physicians Foundation published the third Primary Care Scorecard. Titled “The Health of US Primary Care 2025 Scorecard: The Cost of Neglect,” the study was developed with the Robert Graham Center for Policy Studies in Primary Care.

The scorecard grades primary care across five measures:

  • Financing
  • Workforce/access
  • Training
  • Technology
  • Research

In sum: Those areas all need work to improve and expand the nation’s full capacity for primary care.

Milbank Memorial Fund President Christopher F. Koller spoke with Medical Economics about this year’s findings. The report was the third such analysis of its kind.
