Prosecutors seek death penalty for Florida doctor

Authorities allege that a Florida plastic surgeon killed a lawyer and dumped his body in the Everglades after a legal battle over medical billing. The lawyer represented a practice that the plastic surgeon claimed, “shorted him thousands of dollars in billings and damaged his reputation as a doctor.”

Malaria cases up to 7 in US

Two additional malaria cases have been discovered in Florida. This brings the national total to seven cases. Most Malaria cases in the US are from returning travelers, but these cases have origins in the country. There haven’t been Malaria cases of this nature since 2003.

Air monitor that detects COVID

Researchers at Washington University have developed an air monitor that can detect COVID-19 in five minutes. The monitor can detect as little as tens of molecules of SARS-CoV-2 in a cubic meter. “This is like finding a needle in a haystack,” Rajan Chakrabarty, associate professor of energy, environmental and chemical engineering at the university’s McKelvey School of Engineering said in an article.
