Trump invited to speak at HIMSS20

President invited to speak at global health conference.

President Donald J. Trump was invited to appear at the first day of the HIMSS20 conference in Orlando, Florida, next week, according to conference officials.

Karen D. Groppe, senior director of strategic communications for HIMSS, confirmed the invitation to media in a conference call March 2. At the time, she said there were no further details available on Trump’s possible appearance and that it was a “national security issue.”

Further information on Trump’s appearance is expected later today, she said.

Groppe also informed the press that HIMSS20 would continue as scheduled, and the organization has assembled “a medical panel that will be collaborating with senior leadership to help us evaluate the situation an evaluate [the organization’s] onsite preparedness for the coronavirus.”

HIMSS20 is expected to draw upwards of 50,000 members of the healthcare community to Orlando from March 9 to March 13.
