Which Americans are most affected by prescription drug costs?

Here’s a look at cost-related non-adherence among select population groups.

About 60% of Americans age 18-64 took at least one prescription medication in 2021. Of those, 8.2% didn’t fully adhere to their prescription regimen—meaning they skipped doses, took less medication than prescribed or delayed filling a prescription—due to cost concerns.
